Alcoholism
Alcoholism is an addiction to alcoholic liquor, or the mental illness and compulsive behaviour as a result of alcohol dependency. People usually start alcoholism as a form of relieving their pain, mentally, emotionally, or less commonly, physically. Alcoholics also lose the ability to stop drinking or say no once they have begun.
Some alcoholics even develop physical symptoms of withdrawal when they do not drink alcohol for extended periods of time, such as nausea, shaking, sweating, and anxiety. This will usually be cured by drinking more alcohol or a sedative drug.
